About The Position

Transit America Services, Inc. is currently seeking a Manager of Equipment for a future position in Oakland, CA. The ideal candidate will have a strong maintenance background and experience managing the maintenance of large passenger rail vehicle fleets in support of the mechanical department objectives. The pay range for this position is $123,750.00 - $144,375.00 annually.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, engineering, or a related field is desired from an accredited college or university, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum 7 years relevant work experience in progressively responsible supervisory capacities including the general management of a unionized workforce.
  • A combination of experience, skills, and education to fulfill the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position may be considered.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and leadership skills required.
  • Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated teambuilding experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position.
  • Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for management of mechanical department staff.
  • Ensure safe working environment and enforce TASI policies and procedures. Safety is the number one priority.
  • Compliance with all applicable regulations of the FRA, CPUC, APTA and Association of American Railroads (AAR).
  • Coordinate, organize and maintain production schedules while operating at required levels of service.
  • Manage the fleet Life Cycle Maintenance program.
  • Ensure timely and efficient provision of fleet required for services in compliance with FRA regulations and agency guidelines.
  • Schedule, manage and direct a unionized workforce and, management and administrative employees.
  • Responsible for working with the QA Training Manager to implement quality programs compliant with 49 CFR Parts 229 and 238 and workmanship and materials standards.
  • Responsible for hands-on training of other employees.
  • Represent TASI at project planning meetings with third party and Agency staff.
  • Prepare project updates for TASI management and Agency staff
  • Plan and track project budgets including labor usage
  • Continued development - Guide, evaluate, mentor and interact with staff in the field.
  • Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
