About The Position

The Manager of Direct Supports provides care to individuals with developmental disabilities in home and community-based settings. This role involves hiring, training, and managing Direct Support Professional (DSP) employees, as well as participating in individual-specific planning and meetings. A Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse is preferred for this position to provide Medication Administration training as needed.

Requirements

  • Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse preferred.
  • Must adhere to Indiana Administrative Code (IAC) 460-6.
  • Must adhere to rules and regulations set forth by the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services (DDRS) and Bureau of Disability Services (BDS).
  • Must abide by requirements set forth by the Commission on Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
  • Must be eligible to provide and oversee specific supports (RHS, DHI, RSPO, PAC, Transportation).
  • Must assist individuals with various aspects of daily living and community participation.
  • Must assist Medicaid recipients meeting specific criteria.
  • Must document incident reporting thoroughly and accurately.
  • Must submit Incident Reports within twenty-four (24) hours.
  • Must schedule a minimum of 35 hours per week.
  • Must inform administration of availability and obtain permission for cancellations.
  • Must submit supporting documentation for missed work.
  • Must actively recruit, interview, hire, discipline, suspend, and terminate DSP employees.
  • Must conduct training and meetings for DSP employees.
  • Must oversee direct supports for up to 60 individuals.
  • Must formulate and update Person-Centered Individualized Support Plans (PCISP’s).
  • Must formulate and update individual specific risk plans annually.
  • Must collect and upload/download documentation to the BDS online portal.
  • Must respond to, investigate, document, and resolve complaints.
  • Must attend individual specific quarterly meetings.
  • Must formulate and distribute an Annual Survey of Individual Satisfaction.
  • Must respond immediately to critical incidents.
  • Must actively participate in administrative tasks.
  • Must participate in audits, surveys, and inquiries.
  • Must formulate programs and conduct quality assurance checks.
  • Must use provided technology including laptop, smartphone, email, AccelTrax/Provide Management Software, and BDS online portal login.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to rules and regulations set forth in Indiana Administrative Code (IAC) 460-6.
  • Adhere to rules and regulations set forth by the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services (DDRS) and Bureau of Disability Services (BDS).
  • Abide by the requirements set forth by the Commission on Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) as well as participate in schedule accreditation surveys.
  • Provide and oversee Residential Habilitation and Services (RHS), Day Habilitation (DHI), Respite care services (RSPO), Participant Assistance and Care (PAC), and Transportation.
  • Assist individuals with self-care, self-direction, expressive or receptive language, ambulation or mobility, Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s), learning, independent living, economic self-sufficiency, physical activity, and community participation.
  • Assist Medicaid recipients or Medicaid recipients that meet specific criteria set forth by the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Supports (DDRS).
  • Document incident reporting, including alleged, suspected, or actual abuse, neglect, or exploitation; injury; death; structural or environmental problems threatening health and safety; fires; elopement; criminal activity by an employee; medication errors; physical or mechanical restraint use; client falls; and any unusual incidents affecting client health, wellness, and functioning.
  • Submit Incident Reports via AccelTrax within twenty-four (24) hours of the incident occurring, as well as with the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Supports (DDRS) online.
  • Schedule work times, ensuring a minimum of 35 hours per week.
  • Inform the Assisted Independence, LLC. office and administration of availability.
  • Obtain permission from Assisted Independence, LLC. administration before canceling a scheduled work time.
  • Submit supporting documentation for missed work.
  • Actively conduct recruitment, interviewing, hiring, disciplining, suspending, and terminating of Direct Support Professional (DSP) employees.
  • Conduct training, meetings, and annual trainings for DSP employees.
  • Oversee the delivery of direct supports to a maximum of 60 individuals.
  • Formulate and update Person-Centered Individualized Support Plans (PCISP’s).
  • Formulate and update, at least annually, each individual specific risk plan.
  • Collect documentation from other care providers relevant to the delivery of direct supports.
  • Upload and download documentation to the Bureau of Disability Services (BDS) online portal.
  • Respond to, investigate, document, and resolve any and all complaints received from individuals supported, or anyone making the complaint on behalf of the individual supported, as well as educating individuals and their family on how to report a complaint.
  • Attend all individual specific quarterly meetings.
  • Formulate, distribute, and compile data for an Annual Survey of Individual Satisfaction.
  • Respond immediately to individuals supported for critical incidents such as abuse, neglect, exploitation, injury, death, structural/environmental threats, fires, first responder arrival, elopement, criminal activity by an employee, medication errors/side effects, restraint use, falls, unusual incidents, scheduled medical appointments not during shifts, behavioral incidents, threats, vehicular accidents, lack of transportation, employee inability to fulfill shifts, unexpected visitors, severe weather, power outages, terror threats, acts of God, or unexpected animal entry.
  • Actively participate in administrative tasks of Assisted Independence, LLC., including meetings with leadership, consultants, and community members.
  • Participate in audits, surveys, webinars, and inquiries from various governmental and accreditation bodies.
  • Formulate programs including recreational activities, outdoor activities, educational opportunities, income generation opportunities, resource teaching, and health promoting activities.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks, including data aggregation, retention analysis, documentation checklists, goal tracking, and utilization reports.
  • Receive and use a laptop computer, cellular smartphone, email account, AccelTrax/Provide Management Software, and BDS online portal login.
