About The Position

Are you an operations leader who thrives on keeping multiple programs running smoothly — and making sure patients can get the care they need, when they need it? Thundermist Health Center is looking for a Manager of Community Access Programs to oversee the day-to-day operations of Convenient Care, Telephone Triage, and school-based health programs. You’ll coordinate staffing, manage workflows, monitor access performance, and serve as the operational backbone for some of Thundermist’s most patient-facing programs. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration with a healthcare focus, or a closely related field — or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or operational leadership experience in a healthcare setting
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate staff, workflows, and daily operations across multiple programs or sites
  • Ability to use operational data to monitor performance, identify workflow issues, and support access improvement efforts
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills across clinical, administrative, school, and community settings
  • Commitment to health equity and culturally responsive care for underserved populations

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in an FQHC or community health center environment
  • Experience supporting urgent care, community health, or school-based health programs
  • Current Rhode Island RN licensure or equivalent clinical credential
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills aligned with the communities served
  • Familiarity with EHR systems (eClinicalWorks, Epic, or NextGen)

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily urgent care and walk-in access operations across assigned sites, ensuring consistent, high-quality, patient-centered care delivery
  • Coordinate staffing, scheduling, clinical workflows, and performance expectations for urgent care programs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Support nursing and MA workforce management including onboarding, schedule coordination, payroll review, PTO/FMLA tracking, coaching, and performance follow-up
  • Serve as the operational point of contact during assigned weekend, evening, and holiday coverage
  • Track access metrics including wait times, visit volume, patient flow, and patient experience data; recommend improvements based on trends
  • Support daily operations of the remote Telephone Triage program including staffing coordination, workflow management, and service level monitoring
  • Manage daily operations for school-based health programs, supporting consistent service delivery, staffing coverage, documentation, and compliance
  • Maintain effective working relationships with school partners to support program operations and timely issue resolution
  • Oversee scheduling, clinical protocol implementation, documentation standards, and quality measure tracking for school-based health services
  • Identify operational barriers and service gaps and elevate recommendations for improvement to the Director
  • Coordinate with site Executive Directors, Medical Directors, and operational leaders on workflow issues, staffing needs, and barriers affecting patient access
  • Work with front desk teams to ensure registration processes support timely, seamless patient access; resolve scheduling gaps, insurance verification delays, and intake inefficiencies
  • Maintain day-to-day relationships with community partners, schools, social service agencies, and public health entities
  • Provide direct supervision and support to assigned staff, reinforcing expectations for service quality, teamwork, and accountability
  • Support hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance feedback, and professional development for staff within assigned programs
