About The Position

The Manager, Marketing & Communications supports CSM Corporation’s enterprise-wide external communications and marketing strategy to strengthen corporate brand reputation, visibility, and trust among key audiences. This role is responsible for communications and marketing for CSM. The position ensures a cohesive corporate narrative across all business lines, brands, and functions, translating company priorities into clear, compelling public-facing messaging. This role also supports the company’s public affairs and community presence, including coordination of government relations, community engagement initiatives, and corporate philanthropy efforts (e.g., CSM Cares), ensuring alignment with brand strategy and company priorities. Reporting to the Director, Communications & Employee Experience, the Manager serves as a strategic communications partner to senior leadership and cross-functional teams, providing proactive brand stewardship, public relations leadership, and external communications support, including during issues management and crisis situations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • 5–8 years of progressive experience in external communications, marketing, public relations, or related fields.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with experience creating content for public-facing audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience managing organic social media strategies and external digital content.
  • Experience supporting media relations, PR initiatives, and reputation management.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with experience partnering with senior leaders.
  • Comfort navigating issues management and crisis communications.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, content management systems, and analytics tools.
  • Sound judgment, attention to detail, and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the organization’s integrated marketing and communications strategy, aligning brand, content, digital, engagement, and campaign efforts with business priorities.
  • Define and evolve the organization’s brand strategy, positioning, messaging architecture, and corporate narrative to strengthen market presence and organizational credibility.
  • Serve as the steward of the organization’s brand, ensuring consistency in enterprise brand voice, positioning, and public-facing messaging across external and corporate channels.
  • Translate business objectives into coordinated messaging and campaign strategies that effectively engage key audiences across platforms and touchpoints.
  • Define and apply audience segmentation and personas to ensure messaging, campaigns, and content strategies are targeted, relevant, and effective across key stakeholder groups.
  • Oversee enterprise content strategy, including storytelling, marketing campaigns, executive messaging, and public-facing communications to ensure content is audience-centered, compelling, and aligned with organizational goals.
  • Support business development efforts by developing compelling messaging, narratives, and materials for proposals, RFPs, development initiatives, and third-party partnerships.
  • Lead the strategy, performance, and evolution of digital channels, including websites, email marketing, and social media, ensuring alignment with brand positioning, audience engagement, and conversion goals.
  • Partner with executive leadership to shape organizational messaging, thought leadership, and executive visibility strategies, including positioning leaders as credible voices in the industry through media, speaking opportunities, and digital presence.
  • Guide reputation management, sensitive communications, and external crisis communications in partnership with leadership, Legal, Risk Management, and Human Resources, ensuring timely, accurate, and coordinated messaging during high-impact situations.
  • Support public affairs and government relations communications, including messaging, stakeholder coordination, and relationship-building efforts that enhance the company’s visibility and credibility with external partners and governing bodies.
  • Lead marketing efforts for CSM including our Commercial, ProTech and other ancillary businesses.
