About The Position

The Last Mile Operations Manager oversees daily operations involving contract carriers, employees, and delivery activity. The role connects with customers, assists with route planning and monitoring, and supports efficient delivery operations. The manager develops and mentors staff, ensures compliance with company policies and procedures, manages dispatch, and addresses operational issues. The position also involves ensuring work is accurate and completed within established time frames, documenting every job with photos, and allocating or requesting additional resources as needed.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of related logistics and supervisory experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, such as Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or a similar field.
• Availability to work a variety of shifts, including holidays, days, evenings, nights, and weekends, and to travel occasionally between branches and regions.
• Experience mentoring, training, and guiding newer or less-experienced team members.
• Bilingual English/Spanish, including reading, writing, and speaking both languages.
• Strong business acumen and willingness to partner with management teams.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of contract carriers, including maintaining schedules, monitoring routes and reports, and fostering positive working relationships with carriers and helpers.
• Develop and mentor staff to reach goals and train staff on company policies and procedures.
• Interview, hire, discipline, and resolve issues as part of managerial responsibilities.
• Ensure compliance with corporate warehouse policies, procedures, and programs.
• Supervise employees in accordance with company policies and applicable laws, including planning and assigning work, directing employees, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and resolving complaints and problems.
• Use route-planning software to build efficient delivery routes.
• Manage dispatch of contract carriers and resolve issues throughout the day.
• Identify problem areas, including restructuring routes to improve operational efficiencies.
• Train and develop contract carriers and dispatchers to meet and exceed customer expectations.
• Ensure work is completed accurately and within established time frames.
• Ensure photos are taken for every job.
• Allocate and request additional resources as needed.
