This position will be responsible for the overall management of a specific section (as defined below), which includes recommendations on hiring, performance review counseling and disciplinary actions of staff. Under limited supervision, directs and supervises assigned personnel and daily activities to ensure efficient and uninterrupted operations. Monitors and assesses section performance to ensure established targets are achieved through process-improvement initiatives. This position is responsible for being knowledgeable in all aspects of the department and is competent to perform the tasks required by members of the team. This position serves (for this function across all laboratory sites) as a technical resource person and facilitates the guidance, on-going education and training of staff. Assists the Laboratory Director to develop and monitor financial budgets. Ensures compliance and provides interpretation of procedural intent as requested and/or required.
