About The Position

The Department of Justice is seeking to employ a Manager Justices of the Peace. This role involves leading and managing the delivery of policy and projects related to Justices of the Peace, including the development of new resources and training. The position also focuses on promoting and developing collaborative partnerships with Justices of the Peace and other stakeholders, representing the agency, and providing advice on matters concerning Justices of the Peace. Additionally, the role includes undertaking research, preparing advice on complex matters, assessing applications for appointment, and managing initiatives to improve the Justice of the Peace database.

Requirements

  • A 1-2 page covering letter outlining your experience, skills and knowledge as they relate to the Statement of Duties.

  • A degree in Law from a recognised tertiary institution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the delivery of policy and projects relating to Justices of the Peace, including the development of new resources and training to assist Justices of the Peace to effectively undertake their duties.
  • Promote, foster, and develop collaborative partnerships and effective relationships with Justices of the Peace, Justice of the Peace Associations and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Represent the agency as required and deliver timely, relevant and authoritative advice on matters relating to Justices of the Peace.
  • Undertake research and prepare advice on complex matters associated with the functions of Justices of the Peace and the Office of the Secretary, including preparing relevant advice, Minutes, Cabinet Submissions, Executive Council and other documentation.
  • Assess expressions of interest and process applications for appointment in accordance with the provisions of the Justices of the Peace Act 2018.
  • Manage and progress initiatives to improve the Justice of the Peace database.
