About The Position

Photronics is seeking a Manager, IT Systems (Linux) who is a hands-on technical leader responsible for managing a small team of Linux Systems Engineers while remaining actively engaged in day-to-day Linux administration, engineering, operations, automation, and incident response. This role serves as both a working manager and senior technical escalation point, ensuring enterprise Linux platforms are reliable, secure, well-documented, and aligned with operational, security, and compliance requirements. The ideal candidate combines strong people leadership with deep Linux engineering expertise, disciplined execution, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on knowledge of enterprise Linux administration, including RHEL, Oracle Linux, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu Server, CentOS, or equivalent platforms
  • Experience with system tuning, storage configuration, networking, logging, service management, monitoring, patching, and lifecycle support
  • Strong scripting and automation skills, including advanced Bash, Python, and Ansible; familiarity with Perl or legacy automation tools is helpful
  • Knowledge of secure file transfer and data-movement platforms such as Aspera, CrushFTP, GATE, FileCatalyst, SFTP, or FTPS
  • Understanding of security and compliance practices, including system hardening, vulnerability remediation, access controls, monitoring, and audit readiness; familiarity with CMMC, NIST, and/or ISO 27001 is preferred
  • Working knowledge of ITIL-aligned incident, change, and problem management processes
  • Ability to lead technical teams while remaining actively involved in day-to-day infrastructure operations and senior-level troubleshooting
  • Strong analytical, communication, documentation, and root-cause analysis skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, customer service, operational excellence, and secure technology practices
  • 8+ years of progressive experience supporting Linux systems, IT infrastructure, or related enterprise technology environments
  • 2+ years of experience leading, mentoring, or managing technical teams in production support or infrastructure operations environments
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Combination of relevant education and experience considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Perl or legacy automation tools is helpful
  • Familiarity with CMMC, NIST, and/or ISO 27001 is preferred
  • Experience supporting Linux platforms that host business-critical applications or databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead the administration, maintenance, monitoring, and continuous improvement of enterprise Linux platforms across on-premises and hybrid environments
  • Remain highly hands-on by directly supporting, troubleshooting, administering, and engineering Linux systems, services, and supporting infrastructure
  • Serve as a senior escalation point for complex Linux incidents, production outages, performance issues, security events, and high-priority operational problems
  • Own incident, problem, and change management execution for Linux platforms, including timely resolution, clear communication, root-cause analysis, and durable corrective actions
  • Drive standardization, automation, patching, lifecycle management, configuration management, monitoring, and operational improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency
  • Lead, coach, and manage a small team of Linux Systems Engineers, including work prioritization, technical guidance, performance feedback, and day-to-day operational direction
  • Build team capability through mentoring, knowledge transfer, cross-training, and practical leadership during incidents, maintenance windows, and project execution
  • Promote disciplined execution, strong documentation practices, operational accountability, and a service-oriented support culture
  • Partner with Infrastructure, Security, Application, Database, Network, and business teams to support critical workloads, project delivery, and operational reliability
  • Administer and support secure file transfer and data-movement platforms, ensuring secure configuration, performance, availability, and audit readiness
  • Implement and enforce Linux hardening, vulnerability remediation, access controls, logging, monitoring, and compliance-aligned operating practices
  • Create, maintain, and enforce SOPs, runbooks, build standards, operational checklists, and technical documentation for repeatable support and audit readiness
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve Linux platform performance, automation, monitoring, security, documentation, and service delivery
  • Support infrastructure projects, maintenance windows, operational reviews, audits, and technology initiatives while minimizing business disruption
  • Perform other IT Systems leadership responsibilities as assigned
