About The Position

Directs enterprise-wide HVAC maintenance services and replacement operations while leading sustainability initiatives to optimize energy efficiency across HVAC and refrigeration systems. The role oversees HVAC/R maintenance across stores, capital and expense budgets, vendor relationships, replacement planning, and energy efficiency projects. The work environment is split among stores, the Store Support Center, and job sites, and includes evaluating rooftop units. Work may occur outside normal business hours, including 24/7 on-call availability.

Requirements

• Technical school or vocational education.
• 5–8 years of experience as an HVAC/R service technician.
• Expert knowledge of energy management, HVAC, and refrigeration systems.
• Expert knowledge of the interface between energy management systems and central alarms.
• Working knowledge of the union contract for the Quipco internal maintenance team.
• Working knowledge of environmental and food safety procedures and standards applicable to the supermarket industry.
• Working knowledge of current desktop, laptop, and mobile-related items and systems, including Google, Danfoss, CPC, Emerson, Engie Utility Platform, DOMO, and Verisae.
• Proven project management skills, including organizing, planning, and executing projects involving internal staff, contractors, and suppliers.
• Ability to anticipate and identify issues that inhibit project goals and develop and implement corrective actions.
• Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external contacts.
• Ability to adapt to changing project priorities.
• Ability to evaluate rooftop units.
• Ability to meet the physical demand of lifting more than 50 pounds.
• Ability to work outside normal business hours, including 24/7 on-call availability.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

• Direct mechanical contractors servicing and maintaining HVAC/R systems across stores, and optimize preventive maintenance to reduce operating expenses.
• Monitor facility HVAC/R systems through remote energy management systems and maintain emergency response for department operations.
• Develop long-term HVAC growth strategies and direct capital equipment replacements based on repair history and lifecycle analysis.
• Oversee HVAC operating expenditures by approving service invoices, negotiating vendor labor rates, managing assets, and administering Master Service Agreements and contractual terms.
• Coordinate projects and design options with Construction and Design Project Managers for special projects, remodels, and new store builds.
• Direct HVAC capital and expense budgets and track period-end financial results.
• Drive energy-efficiency projects and technology initiatives using utility incentive programs and rate exceptions.
• Provide input to the next highest level on formal policy setting.
