About The Position

The Manager, Hematology Recruitment and Retention is responsible for the management and administration of programs, studies, and initiatives designed to strengthen the hematology workforce and engage trainees across the career continuum. This role focuses on assessing the needs of ASH members, particularly medical students, residents, and fellows, and contributing to training, outreach, and recruitment and retention efforts that address those needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration or other related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of program management experience
  • Knowledge of graduate medical education
  • Broad understanding of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) requirements and initiatives that affect hematology training in the United States
  • Experience managing communities of practice and/or learning communities
  • Detail-oriented, with excellent organizational and follow-through skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including active listening and ability to synthesize information from diverse audiences (i.e., colleagues, members, and volunteers)
  • Excellent customer service skills including ability to deescalate problems with a calm demeanor, diplomacy, and humor (when appropriate)
  • Experience and proficiency in the use of databases; working knowledge of Salesforce preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience in handling confidential information
  • Strong project management skills

Responsibilities

  • Leads the ongoing development and expansion of the ASH Ambassador Program, including tracking engagement, managing applications, developing agendas, coordinating logistics for retreats, and collaborating with Communications for promotion.
  • Supports the Senior Manager, Hematology Recruitment and Retention with the day-to-day administration of the Hematology-Focused Fellowship Training Program (HFFTP), including participating in calls, tracking compliance, responding to inquiries, and assisting with retreat planning.
  • Serves as the main liaison with the Operations and Meetings departments to implement administrative tasks such as scheduling calls, organizing workshops, processing reimbursements, and preparing meeting materials.
  • Manages the planning, coordination, and logistics for ASH’s Careers in Hematology Mentorship Training Program (CHAMP) - Malignant, including serving as a liaison, supporting mentor-mentee matching, developing agendas, and managing retreat logistics.
  • Provides program management support for the development and implementation of a new ASH program, Horizons in Hematology, including developing and managing an online platform, collaborating with internal teams, and supporting the program Chair and Working Group.
  • Supports the Senior Manager in the administration of national hematology workforce studies.
  • Coordinates with the Communications department and external vendors to secure promotional materials and merchandise.
  • Liaises, attends, and represents ASH at select national medical conferences throughout the year.
