About The Position

Avports is seeking an experienced Manager, Fleet & Asset Management to oversee the maintenance, readiness, compliance, and lifecycle management of airport vehicles, ARFF apparatus, heavy equipment, and critical operational assets at Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN). This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing airport undergoing a transformational expansion, including a new passenger terminal and major infrastructure improvements. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the airport's fleet and equipment remain safe, reliable, and operational 24/7.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in fleet management, heavy equipment maintenance, diesel equipment, automotive maintenance, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs, diagnostics, hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy equipment operations.
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to meet all company and airport credentialing, badging, background screening, and security requirements applicable to the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Airport, aviation, municipal fleet, or ARFF maintenance experience.
  • Experience managing vendors, maintenance contracts, and equipment service providers.
  • ASE certifications or equivalent technical certifications.
  • Experience with fleet management or asset management software.
  • Welding, fabrication, or related mechanical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the management and maintenance of airport fleet vehicles, ARFF equipment, heavy equipment, and operational assets.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance programs, inspections, repairs, and asset replacement planning.
  • Coordinate maintenance vendors, contractors, fuel providers, and equipment service partners.
  • Manage fleet records, compliance documentation, inspections, and asset management systems.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, and cost management initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA, OSHA, DOT, environmental, and airport safety requirements.
  • Monitor fleet performance, equipment reliability, and operational readiness.
  • Support airport emergency response, severe weather operations, and other critical operational needs.
