About The Position

The Manager will join a team that provides services for our clients. You will use your analytical and organizational skills, as well as aptitude in risk management and compliance to support the financial management and reporting processes at a federal agency. You will ensure that all financial operations and controls meet standards and are error-free.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years experience performing financial management services, including audit readiness, budget formulation and execution, and/or financial statement preparation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Onsite 2 days a week in Fairfax, VA
  • Experience working in or with the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), executing the financial operation, business process improvement, risk management, or internal audit functions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field with a minimum of 24 hours in accounting coursework and the 150 hours of total coursework required to obtain a CPA license.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. federal security clearance
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Experience interpreting and applying financial management regulations and other Federal authoritative guidance.
  • Experience in preparing, reviewing, and analyzing financial statements, examining critical financial statement line items, and/or providing technical accounting support.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access).
  • Proficient written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with groups such as clients, peers, and management.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)/Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the Treasury Financial Manual (TFM) and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circulars preferred.
  • Experience with data visualization tools preferred

Responsibilities

  • Organize, analyze, and interpret large volumes of data.
  • Troubleshoot complex accounting and financial issues in the entity’s accounting system of record, identify the root cause of the problems, and provide short-term and long-term solutions.
  • Review and evaluate financial reporting and accounting transaction processes, including controls related to financial reporting.
  • Perform audit readiness, budget formulation & execution tasks.
  • Apply accounting standards to financial transactions and report to Cotton leadership and client personnel, as appropriate.
  • Oversee and review work performed by team members and interact with Cotton managers, directors, and partners.
  • Supervise, delegate, motivate and provide feedback to the team.
  • Participate in business development and proposal efforts, as needed.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Develop and sustain solid relationships with client personnel and identify opportunities to provide additional services.
