About The Position

Supervise and assist staff in their efforts to advise local municipalities about Bureau/Department initiatives. Act as the chief of planning. Provide the department/Bureau with the ability to fulfill its federal grant requirements. Fulfil mission to develop, test, promulgate, and maintain all plans that prepare for, prevent, respond to, and recover from all forms of natural disasters and homeland security threats within the County or involving County assets. This position is Actively Recruited and At Will.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree or higher is required.
  • Five (5) years of emergency management, law enforcement, fire services, coordinating assets, or directly related experience is required.
  • Three (3) years of prior supervisory experience is required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Degrees awarded outside of the United States with the exception of those awarded in one of the United States territories and Canada, must be credentialed by the World Education Services (WES), Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) or a National Association of Credential Evaluation (NACES) member organization.

Responsibilities

  • Advise local municipalities about Bureau/Department initiatives.
  • Act as the chief of planning.
  • Develop, test, promulgate, and maintain all plans that prepare for, prevent, respond to, and recover from all forms of natural disasters and homeland security threats within the County or involving County assets.
  • Develop and implement long-term contingency planning in dynamic environments.
  • Execute operational plans under rapidly evolving, emergency situations.
  • Develop and execute tabletop exercises and full-scale exercises for large scale deployment of personnel and equipment for pre-planned and contingency events.
  • Supervise and lead personnel under dynamic and rapidly folding emergency conditions.
  • Conduct presentations to senior leadership.
  • Coordinate with counterparts from outside agencies in the development and execution of plans.
  • Manage professional and/or skilled support staff on a day-to-day basis.
  • Set overall direction and hold staff accountable for accomplishing work objectives by fostering positive relationships between employees, leadership, and stakeholders.
  • Use organizational and/or department objectives and goals to identify processes by which to meet those goals.
