About The Position

The Emergency Department Manager position requires a strong leader to lead the frontline clinical nursing staff and deliver excellent patient care in addition to having administrative knowledge and the emotional intelligence to promote and maintain a healthy, non-toxic work climate. The Emergency Department Manager will be responsible for creating an environment of patient-focused care, defining standards for quality patient care, managing and developing work-based teams for assigned shifts, training new staff and providing leadership to our nursing team. The Nurse manager of the ED/FSED will report to the Emergency Department Director and assist in administrative and clinical supervision, functioning with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Nursing
  • Registered Nurse - Issued by Florida or Compact State
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale
  • Three (3) years' experience as Clinical Nurse
  • Two (2) years' experience in leadership.
  • Must Attend EKG recognition within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for daily chart checks, review and recapture of missed ED charges.
  • Interacts and collaborates with staff, physicians, and patients regarding programs for the reduction of Hospital Acquired Conditions (HACs), Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs) and meet all core measures.
  • Actively engages in all initiatives to improve patient satisfaction results.
  • Interacts and collaborates with staff, physicians and all ancillary departments to meet department metrics including productivity.
  • Actively engages with staff to ensure employee satisfaction and retention.
  • Checks Dimensions daily for missed punches and absenteeism. Resolves in a timely manner.
  • Monitors and resolves all ERS issues, in a timely manner.
  • Maintain updated schedule. If needed, provide short term nursing relief during high volume or census in ED.
  • Direct staff in application of clinical processes through education and role modeling.
  • Direct all orientation and ensures policies and process are understood with all new staff.
