Manager, Electrical New Product Engineering (ENPIE)

Arista Networks•Santa Clara, CA
•$180,000 - $200,000

About The Position

Arista Networks is seeking a Manager of Electrical New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineering to lead a specialized team of 8–10 Electrical NPI Engineers. This is a technical, hands-on leadership role focused on introducing advanced SMT printed circuit assemblies (PCAs) and complex, high-layer-count PCB designs from prototype through high-volume production and end of life. The manager acts as a technical bridge between internal Hardware and Mechanical Engineering leaders and external contract manufacturing partners, working with Engineering, Product Ops Managers, and other cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability, reliability, and quality throughout the product lifecycle. The role oversees design-for-manufacturability improvements from early concept and prototype stages, supports hardware design, signal integrity, and CAD layout engineers with product introductions at contract manufacturers, and advances manufacturing processes for complex PCBs, including advanced PCB structures and large BGAs. The manager leads process validation, troubleshooting, failure analysis, ECO and version-control workflows, and continuous improvement in yield, cost, quality, and scalability. The position also develops SMT and PCB assembly best practices, supports IPC and regulatory compliance, and coordinates with supply chain and procurement to improve efficiency and inventory optimization.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering; Manufacturing Engineering is acceptable with appropriate engineering experience.
  • At least 10 years of NPI engineering experience specializing in advanced SMT, high-layer-count PCB assembly (30+ layers), and prototype- and production-level DFM.
  • Working knowledge and experience with PLM systems; Agile or Propel preferred.
  • Experience with ECO/MCO/DEV/PCN processes.
  • Strong background debugging circuits on the bench, troubleshooting, failure and root-cause analysis, and 8D methodology.
  • Leadership, mentoring, problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 5 years of experience leading an electrical NPI manufacturing engineering team.
  • PCA design or layout experience.
  • Experience with large form-factor BGA components, advanced high-layer-count PCB structures, and liquid-cooled products.
  • Knowledge of data center equipment lifecycle management and PCB- and component-level coordination from NPI through production and end of life.
  • Experience reviewing PCB layout files in Allegro or other viewers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 8–10 Electrical NPI Engineers.
  • Drive new PCA designs with Hardware Engineering and identify and resolve DFM issues for SMT, PCB assembly, and system integration.
  • Optimize manufacturing of complex, high-layer-count PCBs, including advanced structures and large BGAs.
  • Oversee process validation, troubleshooting, and failure analysis.
  • Support NPI from prototype through full production and end of life.
  • Manage ECOs and version control using PLM systems such as Propel.
  • Lead continuous improvement in yield, cost, and quality.
  • Develop best practices for SMT and PCB assembly and ensure compliance with IPC and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering, Product Ops, cross-functional teams, contract manufacturers, and supply chain/procurement.
  • Support hardware design, signal integrity, and CAD layout engineers with product introductions at contract manufacturers.
  • Identify DFM improvements during early concept and prototype stages.
