This position oversees engineering analysts, technical specialists, and engineers responsible for the safe and reliable interconnection of residential and commercial Distributed Generation (DG) such as solar, battery storage, and other onsite customer energy resources, and development and training programs for employees. The Manager - Distributed Generation Resources will directly or through others, direct the interconnection process of system-wide residential and commercial DG projects through internal employees and external technical consulting resources to meet regulatory timeframes and customer agreed service dates. This role will continually evaluate priorities to ensure critical projects are being addressed and will be accountable for placing projects in service including all related project accounting, invoicing, and payments. The position will also develop and implement technical training programs for employees, provide for employee development through professional training and cross training within the Company, and continually seek out opportunities to allow employees to broaden their experience. Additionally, the role contributes to the development and creation of engineering and construction standards to provide for safe, uniform interconnection, construction, and commissioning practices while addressing new DG technology. The Manager will provide for professional training and industry participation to stimulate new ideas for improving competitiveness and foster an engineering environment that is state of the art by providing technical training through formal courses, industry conferences and vendor briefings; reviewing processes for improvement; automating labor intensive tasks, and providing for software and computer tools that improve the productivity and quality of the staff. This position must continuously monitor and stay abreast of engineering and regulatory requirements, standards, and processes to design optimum facilities. This requires the participation in or the review of engineering standards organizations and assisting with internal engineering standards. The role also assists with preparation of construction and maintenance plans that are compliant with Reliability Standards and consistent with good engineering practices and personnel and public safety requirements. Ensures proper equipment and materials are ordered and delivered to meet project in service dates. Directs the requisitioning of equipment, participates in vendor agreements and problem resolutions, and monitors and evaluates changes in available equipment and materials. Supports construction and operations partners to troubleshoot and resolve installation and maintenance problems and leads root cause analysis efforts to evaluate failures, developing and implementing programs and processes to prevent reoccurrence. Oversees the analysis and impact assessments of distributed generation on the performance of the distribution and transmission system and comparison of this performance to applicable standards. Prepares interconnection agreements and projects to provide interconnections to new distribution generation facilities including solar, energy storage, and other generating resources. Supports distribution and transmission operations as required. Effectively communicates and resolves issues with other groups inside of Oncor and outside groups such as Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), or other Transmission and Distribution Service Provider (TDSPs) and customers. Effectively manages a significant number of assignments while maintaining work quality, reliability and volume. Effectively monitors and supports approved interconnection projects through the design, construction, metering and system model phases. Effectively performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements.
