About The Position

This position oversees engineering analysts, technical specialists, and engineers responsible for the safe and reliable interconnection of residential and commercial Distributed Generation (DG) such as solar, battery storage, and other onsite customer energy resources, and development and training programs for employees.

Requirements

Knowledge and experience in DG related distribution and substation design, construction, operations, and commissioning practices required.
Knowledge of codes, regulations, and requirements applicable to DG interconnections and related distribution and substation design and construction required.
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with internal and external customers.
Proficient in use of relevant DG interconnection standards and project management software.
Organizational and multi-tasking skills to handle large volumes of work including setting and changing priorities and directing work efforts without having full project requirements known.
Multi functionality skills to influence changes and effectively work across disciplines and functions to achieve customer goals and company expectations
Capable of working with people of divergent back grounds.
Applicant must be technically proficient to provide direct support to the supporting stakeholders and direct the actions of others in supporting of those stakeholders.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or a similar technical field is required.
Minimum five years of related DG integration, planning, engineering, or construction experience is required.

Responsibilities

Directs the interconnection process of system-wide residential and commercial DG projects through internal employees and external technical consulting resources to meet regulatory timeframes and customer agreed service dates.
Continually evaluates priorities to ensure critical projects are being addressed.
Accountable for placing projects in service including all related project accounting, invoicing, and payments.
Develops and implements technical training programs for employees.
Provides for employee development through professional training and cross training within the Company and continually seeks out opportunities to allow employees to broaden their experience.
Contributes to the development and creation of engineering and construction standards to provide for safe, uniform interconnection, construction, and commissioning practices while addressing new DG technology.
Provides for professional training and industry participation to stimulate new ideas for improving competitiveness.
Provides for an engineering environment that is state of the art by providing technical training through formal courses, industry conferences and vendor briefings; reviewing processes for improvement; automating labor intensive tasks, and providing for software and computer tools that improve the productivity and quality of the staff.
Continuously monitor and stay abreast of engineering and regulatory requirements, standards, and processes to design optimum facilities.
Assists with preparation of construction and maintenance plans that are compliant with Reliability Standards and consistent with good engineering practices and personnel and public safety requirements.
Ensures proper equipment and materials are ordered and delivered to meet project in service dates.
Directs the requisitioning of equipment, participates in vendor agreements and problem resolutions, and monitors and evaluates changes in available equipment and materials.
Supports construction and operations partners to troubleshoot and resolve installation and maintenance problems.
Leads root cause analysis efforts to evaluate failures.
Develops and implements programs and processes to prevent reoccurrence.
Oversee the analysis and impact assessments of distributed generation on the performance of the distribution and transmission system and comparison of this performance to applicable standards.
Prepare interconnection agreements and projects to provide interconnections to new distribution generation facilities including solar, energy storage, and other generating resources.
Support distribution and transmission operations as required.
Effectively communicate and resolve issues with other groups inside of Oncor and outside groups such as Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), or other Transmission and Distribution Service Provider (TDSPs) and customers.
Effectively manage a significant number of assignments while maintaining work quality, reliability and volume.
Effectively monitor and support approved interconnection projects through the design, construction, metering and system model phases.
Effectively performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements.
