About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Manager for Diagnostic Labs in Anatomic Pathology. This role leads clinical laboratory section(s) and/or laboratory support functions within the Diagnostic Laboratories. The manager provides direction for supervisors, integrates clinical activities, and optimizes patient care. They work with the lab leadership team to define clinical performance standards, monitor quality measures, identify problems, and initiate corrective actions. This position involves managing staff, the operating budget, and participating in capital budget planning. The role is in a beautiful new lab with windows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 years of relevant work experience
  • LIC-Licensed Medical Laboratory Supervisor - Tennessee Medical Lab Board

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and coordinates programs and actions within areas of responsibility; has overall fiscal accountability for sections(s).
  • Develops work goals and objectives based on interpretation of organization plans and forecasts; plans to achieve goals or establish priorities through appropriate budgeting and program development.
  • Monitors payroll reports for overtime and FlexPTO as well as conducts performance appraisals.
  • Leads clinical laboratory section(s) and/or laboratory support functions within the Diagnostic Laboratories.
  • Provides direction for the supervisors of the individual laboratories.
  • Serves as a key resource to integrate clinical activities and optimize patient care.
  • Defines clinical performance standards and quality measures with the lab leadership team.
  • Monitors actual performance and identifies problems and initiates corrective actions.
  • Manages staff and operating budget.
  • Participates in capital budget.
