About The Position

Emory University School of Medicine’s Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine seeks an accomplished pathologist to direct Anatomic Pathology at its Grady Memorial Hospital site. Grady is a public academic health system serving Atlanta and surrounding communities and is a major training site for the department’s education programs, including a large pathology residency program and fourteen ACGME pathology subspecialty fellowships.

The Anatomic Pathology Division provides a diverse diagnostic practice, with approximately 15,000 surgical pathology specimens, 3,200 non-GYN cytology specimens, 9,500 GYN cytology specimens, and 70 autopsies annually. The division plans to adopt digital pathology for primary diagnosis. The Director will participate in a partially subspecialized clinical practice and provide strategic, collaborative leadership through administrative and clinical responsibilities, supporting quality patient care and excellence in education.

Requirements

• MD, DO, or MD/PhD.
• Board certification in Anatomic Pathology.
• Eligibility for medical licensure in Georgia.
• Candidates with 3–5 years of experience in general surgical pathology and/or subspecialty practice are encouraged to apply.
• Demonstrated interest in leadership roles is encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and academic leadership for the Anatomic Pathology Division, promoting academic advancement and high-quality diagnostic services for faculty.
• Ensure high clinical standards by overseeing quality, compliance, and laboratory partnerships in adherence to CLIA and CAP requirements.
• Guide new Anatomic Pathology initiatives and technology aligned with institutional goals.
• Support the education of pathology residents and fellows during their Grady rotations.
• Participate in a partially subspecialized clinical practice.
