Manager, Corporate Development
About The Position
The Corporate Development group at The Walt Disney Company is a team of approximately ten professionals with backgrounds in media & technology, investment banking, private equity, and consulting, who serve as in-house advisors to the company’s executive leadership on key inorganic growth opportunities globally and who negotiate and execute M&A transactions. The department’s activities and accomplishments have contributed to the growth and success of many of the company’s business units across the Disney Entertainment, Sports, and Disney Experiences segments. Examples of work completed include: Acquisitions: NFL Network, 21st Century Fox, Hulu, BAMTech, Lucasfilm, Marvel, Pixar Joint Ventures: Merger of Star India with Viacom18, combination of Hulu + Live TV and Fubo Divestitures: Fox’s 22 Regional Sports Networks, Endemol Shine, FoxNext Games Investments: Minority stakes in OpenAI, Epic Games, Professional Lacrosse League, WEBTOON
Requirements
- Excellent record of academic and professional achievement
- Strong accounting, finance, modeling, valuation, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills
- A team-oriented attitude
- An enthusiasm for mentoring junior team members
- A passion for both business and media & entertainment
Nice To Haves
- 4+ years of experience at a top tier investment bank, private equity, or comparable corporate development group within a major media and entertainment company
Responsibilities
- Play a key role in evaluating and executing acquisitions, divestitures and joint ventures, and developing new business opportunities.
- Extensive interaction with business unit and corporate senior management.
- Early project leadership responsibility.
- Develop excellent quantitative and qualitative problem-solving skills.
- Build a rich base of knowledge within the media and entertainment industry from a ‘principal’ perspective.
- Gain exposure to the executive decision-making process.
- Influence the strategic direction of The Walt Disney Company.
