About The Position

The Conveyance Manager supports material flow throughout the plant by evaluating material delivery to the line side in a JIT sequencing process. The role uses analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, flow analysis tools, and industry experience to design practical routes that support delivery every 30 minutes. The manager ensures these solutions are ready for execution and final installation to prevent downtime due to material shortages. The role also leads the shipping and receiving departments. The position works with production teams and automation vendors to assess processes, develop material-handling systems and layouts, and implement improvements. It includes project management for cart and tugger design, obtaining quotations and placing purchase orders for conveyance equipment, ensuring compliance with company and engineering standards, developing team members, and managing department budgets and performance.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or four years of equivalent work experience or training.
Proficient computer and software skills.
At least three years of supervisory experience in a production environment.
Ability to lift up to 33 pounds, stand for extended periods on the plant floor, safely operate PIT equipment, and traverse the plant facility.

Supervisory experience in the automotive industry.
Working knowledge of plant logistics and inventory control or flow processes.

Responsibilities

Follow safety policies and procedures, wear required PPE, and help ensure the safety of self and others.
Support production by reviewing customer needs, processes, and material flow; conduct surveys and collect data such as process times, space measurements, and equipment information.
Design material-handling and delivery systems, specify equipment, and generate space-design layouts.
Evaluate automated solutions and work with automation vendors to develop priced solutions that meet system specifications and cost-saving objectives.
Generate and support A3 and Kaizen improvement activities within the Conveyance department.
Lead project management for cart and tugger design.
Create material flow designs that support mixed loading.
Obtain quotations and place purchase orders for conveyance equipment.
Ensure systems meet applicable company and engineering standards, policies, and details.
Provide training and development opportunities for Conveyance team members.
Prepare department budgets and monitor performance against budget.
Maintain regular attendance.
Be flexible to work in any area or duties needed to accomplish YKTA goals and objectives.
