As a manager, you will direct, inspire, and grow a team of diverse engineers in becoming the experts and primary contacts for both commercially available and custom components used in L3Harris products. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in component engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a managerial role.

  • Proficiency/familiarity with mechanical CAD tools, especially Siemens NX.
  • Familiarity with creating, reviewing, and understanding mechanical & electrical drawings.
  • Familiarity with tolerances and manufacturing terminology and processes.
  • Proficiency/familiarity with Siemens Teamcenter PLM and SAP ERP software.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) and how it’s used to manage project budgets and schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of component engineers in researching, selecting, evaluating, sourcing, and documenting parts, as well as working with design & systems engineering to integrate those parts into assemblies and modules.
  • Guide component engineers in developing and pursuing their desired career path through goal planning, performance evaluations, and team meetings.
  • Facilitate continuous-improvement initiatives, including a focus on Design for Excellence (DfX), to enhance component reliability and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure component compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
  • Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of the component database and documentation.
  • Develop and implement strategies for component-obsolescence management and risk mitigation.
  • Provide technical guidance and support for component-related issues throughout the design, testing, production, and maintenance phases of hardware systems.
  • Conduct supplier assessments and coordinate with vendors for component procurement and evaluations.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the budget and resources allocated to the component-engineering team.
