About The Position

The PASS Teacher will provide active, responsive instruction for credit recovery and GED preparation within the PASS program at Englewood High School. This role involves developing individualized learning plans, facilitating tutoring and small-group instruction, and creating an inclusive classroom atmosphere. The teacher will also provide guidance and mentorship to students, advocate for their needs, and conduct outreach to students and families. Additionally, the position requires tracking student progress, maintaining accurate records, and collaborating with colleagues and community partners. The role emphasizes a 'power with' approach to relationships and a belief in organizations as living systems, aiming to transform students' lives by unleashing their potential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Colorado Teaching License (7-12)
  • Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft applications
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Expertise in building rapport across diverse backgrounds, cultural competence, and adapting communication for various stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated dedication to equity, inclusivity, and social justice.

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Colorado Teaching License with an endorsement in Science (7-12).
  • Background in working with youth in alternative educational or community-based settings, such as credit recovery programs, GED preparation, and wrap-around services.
  • Familiarity with the Englewood community, potential partnerships, and available resources
  • Experience using educational platforms: Edgenuity and Infinite Campus.
  • Experience working with IEPs, 504s, and ELD populations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and adjust individualized learning plans in response to student progress, barriers, and needs.
  • Serve as the teacher of record for credit recovery courses.
  • Facilitate tutoring and small-group instruction to supplement computer-based lessons aligned to student needs.
  • Facilitate SEL and executive functioning lessons and activities with 9th and 10th grade students to build academic strategies and prevent future course failure.
  • Create an inclusive classroom atmosphere that fosters collaboration, mutual respect, and a sense of belonging.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and resources, promoting student achievement and growth.
  • Advocate for student needs within the school, securing resources and accommodations to enhance equity and inclusion.
  • Conduct outreach to students and families to support engagement and attendance, fostering trusting, supportive relationships.
  • Build partnerships with local educational and community organizations, contributing to a sustainable support ecosystem.
  • Track and monitor student progress, using assessment data to make programmatic adjustments and inform interventions.
  • Maintain accurate student records on attendance, performance, and other metrics to measure program impact.
  • Collaborate on data collection for grant objectives, contributing qualitative and quantitative insights.
  • Engage in professional development with ZD and Englewood High School staff to enhance instructional practices and stay current on credit recovery, GED preparation, and best practices for student support.
  • Actively contribute to team learning and growth, staying informed on trends in education.
  • Engage with colleagues, students, and stakeholders across communication platforms (Outlook, Teams, Google Workspace, Coda, etc.) to maintain alignment and share evidence-based practices.
  • Develop and sustain district and community partnerships, enhancing opportunities for student success.
  • Participate in ZD and Englewood High School meetings, team-building, and professional growth initiatives.
  • Collaborate on Zero Dropouts design teams for program and product development as needed.
  • Work to maintain a living systems approach that supports the building and sustaining of interdependence within the organization.
  • Flexibly contribute to the organization’s overall mission and support additional projects.
