As Manager, Business Development at Reuters News Agency, you’ll be part of a global team forging high-impact partnerships with the world's leading media and technology companies – expanding the reach of Reuters News content to new platforms and markets. Reuters News Agency is one of the world's most trusted sources of news content. This role is a key position within our global Business Development and Distribution Partnerships team, focused on finding and developing new commercial opportunities beyond traditional media licensing. You'll be generating new revenue by identifying, structuring and closing licensing and distribution partnerships for Reuters IP and content - pictures, text, graphics and video - across all customer segments, including API integrations and emerging commercial models across a broader set of industries and platforms. About the Role In this opportunity as Manager, Business Development, you will: Identify and develop strategic partnership models for data and content licensing, content creation and/or distribution on partner platforms. Negotiate and execute strategic partnerships, including API integrations, new technology and product integrations, working closely with legal, editorial, marketing, product, finance and technology teams. Manage the full partnership lifecycle, from lead generation and business development through to agreement closure and ongoing account management, while optimizing existing partner relationships. Drive pipeline development and revenue growth, maintaining a robust portfolio of new business opportunities with consistent focus on both recurring subscription and transactional models. Lead cross-functional partner initiatives, gathering and understanding complex partner needs, technology platforms, content and IP rights, and working with internal stakeholders to launch strategic programmes. Act as a market and product specialist, sharing knowledge and best practices with the wider team and advising on the competitive landscape across social, marketing, e-commerce, content creation, web/app publishing and enterprise tools. Monitor and report on the competitive environment, evaluating programme trends and providing analysis and recommendations to senior stakeholders on the performance and strategic impact of alliances and partnerships.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of experience in business development, sales or channel partnerships, ideally within media, content, technology or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of content licensing models, including intellectual property rights, subscription and transactional revenue structures.
  • Working knowledge of content delivery systems and APIs, with experience structuring or selling API-based partnerships strongly preferred.
  • Strong negotiation, persuasion and consensus-building skills, with the ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders across a global matrix environment.
  • Proven ability to manage a personal book of business and deliver consistent, measurable growth against targets.
  • Self-starting and proactive, with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and a demonstrated growth mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in editorial content, news media or digital distribution, and/or experience with channel or redistribution partnerships.
  • Combined background of post-sale account management and new business development.
  • Analytical and process-oriented mindset, with experience using CRM tools such as Salesforce.
  • Experience in a complex, cross-functional role, liaising with product, technology and editorial leaders to drive revenue and build durable, long-term collaborations.
