About The Position

Schedules appointments for patients by telephone or in person. This role is 20 hours per week, with shifts from Monday-Thursday 3p-6p and Friday 7a-4p. The position is located at Janesville Hospital. The pay range is $17.57 - $26.36.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Medical terminology recommended
  • History of three years of reception recommended
  • Possesses professional and interpersonal communication skills and uses constructive, respectful tones and modes of communication, regardless of the situation.
  • Has the ability and willingness to coach, teach and mentor staff, clinically and professionally.
  • Exhibits verbal and non-verbal support of administrative and departmental quality, customer relations, clinical policies and improvement initiatives and expectations.
  • Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Can perform all duties of a Radiology receptionist.
  • Assists in the record keeping in accordance with MQSA.
  • Works to maintain the sharing and importing of mammography studies into PACS.
  • Schedules appointments and enters appointment date and time into computerized scheduling system.
  • Checks exam orders in Epic.
  • Works closely with physicians, nurses, technologists to coordinate patient exams to expedite patient care.
  • Performs cancels, reschedules and makes modifications to exam orders as needed.
  • Telephones patients to give them prep and lab instructions when needed.
  • Works with non-Mercy physicians to have exams performed within Mercy Health System and enters those orders.
  • Releases orders from Epic.
  • Coordinates biopsies with interventional nurses, the modality involved and the radiologist to insure all are available.
  • Notifies hospital registration dept., radiology front office, pre-cert dept. and modality of all add on exams to insure that the exam is preauthorized and performed expediently.
  • Uses read back method when taking orders and scheduling exams.
  • Greets and directs patients, salespeople, and visitors.
  • Can manage up to 3 software applications simultaneously.
  • Assists with other medical office needs.
  • Gathers together weekly and monthly stats.
  • Orders, receives and maintains office supplies.
  • Utilizes appropriate scripting and patient identifiers.
  • Works on committees and projects as assigned and completes them in the needed time frame.
  • Assists manager or director with projects, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Performs patient registration for imaging patients.
  • Insures that all office equipment is maintained and functioning properly.
  • Maintains policies and procedures that pertain to scheduling.
