About The Position

The Salary Administration Specialist supports centralized human resource operations by reviewing, evaluating, and approving salary requests in accordance with OSHR and Department of Adult Correction policies. This position assesses applicants’ qualifications and provides final approval of employment requests to ensure internal pay equity. The Specialist is responsible for processing personnel actions in the HR/Payroll System related to hiring and salary adjustments. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, effective time-management skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree, typically in Human Resources or relevant field from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of experience required OR Three (3) years of progressive experience in Human Resources OR Equivalent combination or education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience approving salary actions using salary administration, pay philosophies, and/or compensation policies.
  • Proven experience verifying HR documentation related to employee pay decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience using HR systems or Enterprise Resource Platforms (ERPs) to process or review compensation‑related actions.
  • Proven experience preparing clear and concise summaries or justification notes to support compensation decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Review employment requests to confirm accuracy of the candidate’s qualifications for the position and follow the applicable policies for compliance.
  • Evaluate recommended salaries, provide final approval to maintain internal pay equity and ensure proper documentation is provided in the salary request prior to approval.
  • Process salary actions, for example, new hires, promotions, special salary adjustments and other salary impacting actions in the Integrated Human Resources Payroll System (IHRPS).
  • Maintain timely and accurate processing of personnel transactions in accordance with OSHR, DAC, and standardized HR practices.
  • Generate reports and documents using systems such as IHRPS, BOBJ Reports, Workday or other HRIS/Payroll System, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat to support salary analysis.
  • Provide guidance to hiring managers and HR staff on salary recommendations, OSHR policy interpretation, and employment process requirements.
  • Consult with internal stakeholders to resolve salary administration issues and support compliance with regulatory and agency standards.
