About The Position

The Mall Security Officer helps maintain a safe and secure environment at a large indoor retail mall with more than 200 stores and entertainment venues. The role involves actively monitoring and patrolling the premises, preserving order, and enforcing regulations and directives related to personnel, visitors, and the property. Officers also provide information and customer service to shoppers and tourists. No prior experience is necessary; training is provided for candidates beginning a career in security.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Valid driver's license for driving posts.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to remain calm during emergencies.
Basic computer and report-writing skills.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

Prior security, military, law enforcement, or customer service experience is helpful but often not required.
Retail, food service, or hospitality industry background is considered a good fit.

Responsibilities

Patrol the mall, parking lots, and surrounding property on foot or in a vehicle.
Monitor for theft, vandalism, trespassing, and suspicious activity.
Respond to emergencies, disturbances, medical incidents, and customer service requests.
Enforce mall policies, including youth supervision and safety procedures.
Prepare detailed incident and activity reports.
Coordinate with local law enforcement, fire departments, and EMS when necessary.
Monitor CCTV cameras and security systems.
Assist shoppers with directions, escorts, lost children, vehicle assistance, and other customer service needs.
Conduct opening and closing security checks of entrances and common areas.
Actively monitor premises and patrol locations to help preserve order and maintain a safe and secure environment.
