The Major Gifts Officer develops and executes strategies to generate new gifts and strengthen MIFA’s established major giving programs, with a fundraising goal of $1.7 million. The role attracts and cultivates meaningful relationships with prospective donors, communicates MIFA’s mission, and works collaboratively with colleagues and outside constituencies. The position manages the major-gift donor cycle, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship for current and prospective donors. MIFA defines major gifts as gifts of $1,000 or more. The officer uses technology and available data to support prospect research, donor pipeline development, and growth in donor gifts; collaborates with Development/Communications on donor marketing materials; and recruits and manages individual-giving volunteers. The officer represents MIFA in the community through events, speaking engagements, and networking, and strengthens the Circle of Hope brand to engage major-gift donors. The role also maintains donor relationships through personal visits, phone calls, correspondence, and an effective stewardship program, and serves as a key liaison to funders. Additional expectations include strong writing and speaking, accountability for development performance, and commitment to learning and personal growth.
