About The Position

Join the team at Black's Pub as our Maître d' and become the first impression of one of Whistler Village's favourite gathering places. Known for its lively atmosphere, welcoming hospitality, and prime Village Stroll location, Black's Pub offers guests everything from casual lunches and après drinks to lively evenings with friends. As Maître d', you'll play a key role in creating exceptional guest experiences by managing the flow of the dining room, welcoming guests with warmth and professionalism, and ensuring every visit starts on the right foot. We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys connecting with people, and has a natural ability to organize, communicate, and lead from the front. Working closely with the leadership team, you'll help maximize seating, support service efficiency, and create memorable experiences for every guest.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a host, maître d', restaurant supervisor, or in a guest-facing hospitality role.
  • A genuine passion for hospitality and creating exceptional first impressions.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence to engage guests from around the world.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and solutions-focused during busy service periods.
  • Comfortable coordinating with front-of-house leadership to optimize seating and guest flow.
  • A positive, team-first attitude and willingness to support the operation wherever needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using reservation and waitlist systems is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome guests with warmth and professionalism, creating an exceptional first impression.
  • Manage reservations, waitlists, and seating arrangements to maximize guest flow and dining capacity.
  • Coordinate closely with servers, bartenders, and kitchen teams to ensure smooth and efficient service.
  • Monitor dining room capacity and communicate accurate wait times to guests.
  • Handle guest requests and resolve concerns with confidence, professionalism, and care.
  • Support special events, large group bookings, and VIP guest experiences.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming entrance and host stand.
  • Assist with training new hosts and fostering a positive, guest-focused team culture.
  • Help create an environment where every guest feels welcomed, valued, and excited to return.
