About The Position

Under the direction of the Director II-MOT, perform grounds maintenance and gardening to beautify assigned grounds and landscaped areas. Perform tasks related to building and equipment maintenance, and keep assigned grounds clean and safe. This is a 1.0 FTE position, scheduled for 8 hours per day, 12 months per year.

Requirements

• Possess and maintain a valid Class C California Driver’s License.
• High school diploma or equivalency.
• H-6 DMV printout.
• Knowledge of basic grounds maintenance procedures, including mowing, edging, raking, and weeding.
• Knowledge of methods, equipment, and materials used in gardening and groundskeeping.
• Knowledge of cultivating, fertilizing, watering, and spraying flowers, trees, and shrubs.
• Knowledge of operating and maintaining hand and power tools, heavy grounds equipment, and groundskeeping equipment.
• Knowledge of basic record-keeping techniques.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• For positions requiring a District vehicle, hold a valid California Driver’s License and participate in the District Drug and Alcohol Testing and Employer Pull Notice Program.
• Obtain valid forklift certification within the probationary period.
