The Maintenance Worker performs seasonal maintenance work for the Seasonal Staffing Office at Ozark National Scenic Riverways. The typical work season runs from March through September, but may vary due to weather, project needs, or funding. The anticipated entry-on-duty date is March 2027. This is a temporary seasonal appointment, generally not to exceed 1,039 hours; depending on the park and program, it may instead be not to exceed 1,560 hours. The appointment is expected to end when the season's work is complete, and employment may end earlier due to funding, project needs, performance, or other considerations. The position is not suitable for telework. The work includes maintenance across trades such as carpentry, painting, electrical, and plumbing, as well as road, trail, and building maintenance. The worker repairs and operates trade-related tools and equipment, uses a computer, maintains records, and performs simple arithmetic calculations. Work may be indoors or outdoors, including in inclement weather and in areas with dirt, spray, and fumes; protective equipment and clothing may be required. The position may require on-call, evening, weekend, holiday, overtime, or shift work. Government quarters may be required, and housing may be available but is not guaranteed. Uniform wear may be required, with a uniform allowance provided. The employee may need to complete training, operate a four-wheel-drive vehicle, and drive a government or private motor vehicle for official duties; a valid driver's license is required when driving is part of those duties.
