About The Position
The City of Friendswood, Department of Public Works is currently accepting applications for a Maintenance Worker to assist in the repairs of city streets, rights-of-ways, and drainage systems.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D
- six months to one year of experience
- valid Texas Driver's license

- Experience working for City, County, or State preferred.
Responsibilities
- Periodically operates backhoe and other tractors and drives crew trucks.
- Maintains and repairs streets, curbs, and sidewalks, using a variety of tools and equipment.
- Installs and repairs storm sewers, inlets, and storm manholes.
- Operates laser-leveling equipment to determine ditch elevations for grading and maintenance.
- Operates heavy mowing equipment during maintenance of ditches, shoulders, guardrails, and easements.
- Operates water jet truck to clean culverts and storm sewers.
- Provides emergency response to remove fallen trees, storm debris, assist in emergency repairs, and respond to traffic emergencies, after normal business hours.
- Complies with and enforces normal safety precautions to prevent injury or accidents to self or others on the job sites.
- Performs other duties within the areas of responsibility and ability as assigned.
