About The Position

The Maintenance Worker II Crew Leader is responsible for ensuring that all BUS facilities are maintained and cleaned accordingly. This role also assists in the collection and review of cleaning data for facilities and works directly under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or GED plus two years of experience.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License.
  • Average judgment; must recognize and resolve problems, type of procedure to apply, where to refer call or correspondence without specified destination, when to change or sharpen blade on mower, whether there is a problem/malfunction with a piece of equipment that needs attention, etc.; may involve freedom in selection of work methods among approved routines, setting of priorities, or sequencing of tasks within established schedules.
  • Low chance for error because work is routine/repetitive/simple/reviewed carefully; standard procedures: not demanded to come up with creative solutions; refers anything unusual to supervisor.
  • Lead person in small work group; does not specifically assign work but is looked to for guidance.
  • Does not deal with money.
  • Infrequent or non-difficult contacts with other people inside and/or outside department; straightforward information exchange, etc.
  • Mostly moderate and fairly steady active physical exertion; may require brief periods of heavy muscular exertion, such as standing, lifting, moving, pulling, pushing, etc. Ability to exert up to 35-50 lbs. of force occasionally to move objects.
  • Must remain calm and efficiently follow procedure and process in emergency situations
  • Frequent exposure to outdoor elements; job often (several times per week).
  • Must successfully pass a Drug & Alcohol and a physical examination and a Background Check.

Responsibilities

  • Performs landscaping maintenance such as trimming trees, mowing areas, clearing debris, picking up trash, and related activities.
  • Responsible for maintenance of benches, shelters, and signs, to include repairs, painting, and related activities.
  • Prepares new bus stops by adding sign post, benches, and other features as needed.
  • Removes bus stop features such as sign posts, benches, and other features as needed.
  • Performs cleaning of BUS fleet, including buses, vans, and administrative vehicles as needed.
  • Performs general cleaning, such as mopping sweeping, and dusting of BUS facilities as needed.
  • Uses a variety of tools and equipment, such as lawnmowers, saws, and shovels for the maintenance of BUS facilities.
  • May perform carpentry work, such as constructing benches, building walls, and similar tasks.
  • Responsible for assigned equipment/property used outside of office; responsible for handing out to and retrieving property/equipment from employees and keeping inventory; use of agency vehicle.
  • Performs other related work as required.
