About The Position

This position is responsible for leading mechanical maintenance and project work utilizing a team of internal and external resources. Responsibilities include general maintenance and repair of all plant production machinery and equipment and project and/or construction management of selected projects.

Requirements

  • Must have high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of previous direct supervisory experience within a maintenance department.
  • Must have a Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to participate in a shift rotation, working evenings, weekends, holidays, etc as scheduled.
  • Must have technical and practical knowledge of machinery/equipment.
  • Able to read and understand drawing/schematics.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly developed organizational skills.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • High proficiency with computers; Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Able to work in an extremely fast-paced environment.
  • Able to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Red Seal Journeyman Welder or Millwright ticket is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a maintenance planner role is an asset.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in ISO quality standards system and LEAN manufacturing an asset.
  • Knowledge of processing (Canola) industry preferred.
  • CMMS experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Maintenance Planner to plan and schedule maintenance activities by priority level to minimize downtime and interruptions.
  • Use technical knowledge to help support maintenance technicians and work with them closely to give them support on their ongoing work.
  • When work orders are closed by the workers you will ensure their time, parts and information on the Work Order (“WO”) is completed then either close the WO or follow up if required for the planner to schedule it.
  • Create and maintain inventory of tools for the maintenance technicians.
  • Keep a list with all the tools and will start auditing the crew’s toolboxes as well as the tool cage, and order tools as required for technicians.
  • Work with Maintenance Planner on to make sure parts are in stock before the job starts.
  • Work with the Maintenance Planner to plan and schedule all preventative & corrective maintenance for machinery, auxiliary equipment & building maintenance.
  • Coordinate reactive work that comes up through the week work with the planner if other WO needs to be rescheduled.
  • Work with team to coordinate plant shutdowns.
  • Direct Millwrights, Welders and Contractors duties as requested by our customers to ensure facility up time.
  • Identify, schedule, and coordinate monthly and annual shutdowns.
