About The Position

The Village of Lemont is seeking two full-time Maintenance Worker I or Maintenance Worker II candidates for its Public Works Department. This role involves a variety of street maintenance, construction, repair, and operational duties, contributing to the safety, appearance, and functionality of Village infrastructure. The department includes divisions for Streets & Maintenance, Water & Sewer, and Fleet Maintenance. This position reports to experienced Crew Leaders within the Streets & Maintenance Division. The Village emphasizes a collaborative, team-oriented environment with opportunities for growth and advancement.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Illinois Class “B” CDL with air brake endorsement
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
• Positive attitude, initiative, and willingness to learn
• Dependable, self-motivated, and safety-conscious

• Experienced candidates with advanced skills and years of relevant experience (for Maintenance Worker II placement)

Responsibilities

• Street, sidewalk, curb, and gutter repairs
• Sewer and storm drain maintenance
• Water main and infrastructure repairs
• Traffic sign installation and repair
• Pavement marking and paint crew operations
• Snow and ice removal
• General maintenance and labor support throughout the Village
