About The Position

Capital Power is seeking a Maintenance Worker to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a steam and gas‑fired cogeneration facility. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment, supporting safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This position works under limited direction from the Maintenance Crew Leader and plays a key role in maintaining plant availability and performance.

Requirements

  • Journeyman certification or equivalent experience in at least one recognized trade (Electrician, Millwright/Mechanic, Machinist, Welder, or HVAC), or the ability to obtain a journeyman card.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of power plant maintenance experience or equivalent industrial maintenance experience.
  • Completion of at least eighteen (18) months as a Maintenance Worker or equivalent role.
  • Maintenance and repair of gas and steam turbines.
  • Advanced valve, pump, heat exchanger, and hydraulic system maintenance.
  • Electrical troubleshooting and maintenance, including low-voltage systems, motors, switchgear, batteries, inverters, transformers, generators, and MCCs (as applicable by trade).
  • Mechanical skills such as alignment, balancing, bearing and seal replacement, machining, fabrication, and welding (as applicable by trade).
  • HVAC and refrigeration troubleshooting, repair, and refrigerant handling (as applicable by trade).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
  • Expected computer proficiency at CMMS Level 2.
  • Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous learning.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in United States of America.

Responsibilities

  • Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment in accordance with established maintenance procedures and work orders.
  • Following all plant safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Interpreting plant blueprints, drawings, vendor specifications, and equipment manuals.
  • Completing housekeeping and clean-up activities following maintenance work.
  • Maintaining required certifications, training, and competency standards within the Maintenance Worker II classification.
  • Applying journeyman-level skills in one or more recognized trades, including Electrician, Millwright/Mechanic, Machinist, Welder, or HVAC.
  • Supporting maintenance planning and execution through accurate documentation in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Collaborating effectively with Operations, Engineering, Planning, Materials Management, contractors, and vendors.
