About The Position

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career. As a Maintenance Trainee, you will be responsible for production and packaging equipment, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance. The position will require working with engineering and production personnel during the troubleshooting, and repair of plant equipment. The position is designed to provide on the job and classroom training over a four-year period of time in which the employee will earn a certificate and maintenance skills to reach a maintenance technician position.

Requirements

  • Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
  • Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and determine root cause of failures and eliminate equipment problems
  • Analyze maintenance and equipment performance data to identify and implement means for improving reliability, uptime, and quality of product
  • Know and apply the operating principles, purpose, proper application, and design limitations of electrical power distribution system components and elements
  • Read and work to indicated accuracy, specifications, and tolerances as detailed on engineering drawings, machine assembly prints, machine construction prints, blueprints, sketches, equipment manuals, and vendor diagrams, using both U.S. customary and SI (metric) systems of measurements
  • Assemble, install, fit, align, and prepare for operation of all types of equipment, machinery, and fixtures
  • Set up, operate, and use precision measuring equipment such as scales, dial indicators, micrometers, hole gauges, telescope gauges, tramming rules, optical alignment transits, and similar measuring instruments to assure accuracy in placement and set up of equipment
  • Demonstrate safe work behaviors to avoid injury to self and others
  • Comply with corporate policies, procedures and security standards while performing assigned duties.
  • Contribute to a strong Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) culture by following safety policies, identifying hazards, and engaging in continuous improvement.
