About The Position

Hotel Equities is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the DoubleTree by Hilton in Billings, MT. This role is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and cleaning of hotel areas and equipment to ensure a safe and well-maintained environment. The technician will provide warm, knowledgeable service to guests, reassuring them they have made the right choice. The Maintenance Technician will handle routine maintenance in various hotel areas including public spaces, meeting rooms, ballrooms, outlets, back-of-house, and grounds. They will maintain rooms in optimal operating condition by performing necessary repairs, understanding and executing the room preventative maintenance program, and repairing items such as televisions, phones, and clock radios. Responsibilities also include replacing or repairing bathroom fixtures, executing general plumbing, maintaining the overall appearance of rooms through touch-up painting and fixture replacement, and troubleshooting heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The role requires regular, safe, and efficient use of power and hand tools, performing preventative maintenance throughout the hotel (front-of-house, interior, and exterior), and maintaining the condition of lobbies and restaurants. Additional duties include repairing furniture, decorations, carpet, marble, tile, windows, and mirrors, as well as repairing and maintaining kitchen and laundry equipment. The technician will also maintain the exterior of the building and grounds, ensure operating equipment is in working condition through routine checks and repairs, and maintain the cleanliness of their work area. A key aspect of the role involves demonstrating familiarity with the hotel's safety systems, taking corrective action on maintenance or operating problems affecting security or operation, and reporting any hazards or injuries, taking immediate corrective action.

Requirements

  • High school diploma; technical school degree preferred.
  • One to five years in maintenance required
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
  • Must be self-directed
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must possess basic computational ability.
  • Must have a good knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems, maintenance of records of power, water and fuel consumption.
  • Must have knowledge of using Purchase orders and ordering materials.
  • Must be able to stand 8 hours per day.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space and to reach other locations of the hotel on a timely basis.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks occasionally.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs frequently.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs occasionally.
  • Position requires walking and standing most of the working day.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the hotel on a timely basis.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
  • Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Handle routine maintenance in public spaces, meeting rooms, ballrooms, outlets, back of the house spaces, and grounds
  • Maintain rooms in optimal operating condition by performing repairs as needed
  • Understand the room preventative maintenance program
  • Repair televisions, phones, clock radios, etc.
  • Replace or repair damaged bathroom fixtures and execute general plumbing as needed
  • Maintain the overall appearance of the room; replace broken mirrors, hang fixtures, do touch up painting, etc.
  • Troubleshoot rooms heating/ventilating/air conditioning systems
  • Use both power and hand tools regularly in a safe, efficient manner
  • Perform preventative maintenance throughout other areas of the hotel as well as, including both the front of the house, interior and exterior
  • Maintain the condition of the hotel lobbies and restaurants
  • Repair furniture and decorations as necessary
  • Repair carpet, marble and tile
  • Repair and maintain kitchen and laundry/housekeeping equipment
  • Repair/replace windows and mirrors
  • Maintain exterior of building and grounds as necessary
  • Maintain operating equipment in working condition by performing routine equipment checks and repairs
  • Maintain and assist in the cleanliness of individual work area
  • Demonstrate familiarity with the hotel's safety systems and take corrective action on any maintenance or operating problems which affect the security or operating condition of the hotel
  • Report any hazards or injuries in the department and take immediate action to correct
