About The Position

At DoubleTree by Hilton Portland, we’re not just hosting events, we’re creating experiences. We’re looking for a high-performing Catering Sales Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves building relationships, and knows how to turn opportunities into revenue. If you’re competitive, creative, and passionate about hospitality, this role is for you. The role involves driving revenue and growth by prospecting, negotiating, and closing new and repeat catering business, consistently meeting or exceeding sales goals, and maximizing banquet space utilization. The manager will also own the client experience by planning, detailing, and executing events from start to finish, customizing proposals, menus, and event setups, and ensuring exceptional guest satisfaction. Building powerful relationships with clients, vendors, and the local community, conducting site tours, outside sales calls, and representing the hotel at networking events are also key. The position requires strategizing and executing by understanding market trends, using creative selling techniques, and collaborating with operations and leadership teams to deliver excellence.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of hotel catering or related sales experience
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed revenue goals
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills
  • Knowledge of food & beverage, banquet operations, and event planning
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Organized, driven, and able to manage multiple events at once
  • A strong sense of urgency and accountability
  • Creativity in designing event experiences
  • Confidence in closing deals and building pipelines
  • Passion for hospitality and delivering excellence

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with systems like Delphi (preferred)
