LAND O’ FROST IS HIRING IMMEDIATELY FOR 2nd and 3rd SHIFT MAINTENANCE TECHNICIANS MONDAY – FRIDAY 1:00PM – 9:30PM/2nd shift SUNDAY - THURSDAY 9:00PM = 5:30AM/3rd shift STARTING PAY IS $27.27/HOUR (+$.80/HOUR SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL) MEDICAL, DENTAL, VISION, Rx, and VACATION AFTER 90 DAYS 401K with a company match Packaging Maintenance Technician — Industry-Standard Requirements 1. Education & Certifications Typical Requirements High school diploma or GED (baseline requirement). Technical training or vocational diploma in industrial maintenance, mechanical technology, electrical technology, or automation (preferred). Optional but valuable certifications: Industrial Maintenance Technician Certification Electrical or mechanical technical certifications PLC/automation credentials OSHA safety certificates (e.g., OSHA 10/30) Benchmark Insight: Many employers prefer but do not mandate formal certificates, instead prioritizing hands-on experience with packaging equipment. 2. Experience Industry Expectations 2+ years of experience in packaging, manufacturing, or maintenance environments. Direct exposure to automated packaging systems and troubleshooting equipment malfunctions. Experience with pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems on packaging lines is a strong plus. Benchmark Insight: Posts for “Maintenance/Set-Up Technicians” in packaging often list ~3 years automation/packaging repair experience as a requirement. 3. Technical Skills Core Competencies Mechanical troubleshooting (belts, bearings, motors). Electrical and controls diagnosis (sensors, wiring, motors). Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic packaging components. Preventive and corrective maintenance of packaging lines to minimize downtime. Ability to read schematics/technical manuals. Optional Skills PLC / HMI troubleshooting. Calibration of instrumentation and controls. Ability to support installation/commissioning of new packaging equipment. 4. Responsibilities Operational Duties Perform routine and preventive maintenance on packaging equipment. Troubleshoot and repair breakdowns on packaging lines (e.g., fillers, labelers, conveyors). Work with production teams to minimize downtime and maintain output targets. Document maintenance work (e.g., work orders, parts used, performance metrics). Ensure proper equipment setup for different packaging runs (changeovers). Extended Duties (where applicable) Lead or train junior technicians/operators. Assist with spare parts inventory and optimization. 5. Safety & Compliance Industry Benchmarks Adhere to lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and workplace safety rules. Comply with relevant GMP, food safety, and sanitation standards in food packaging environments. Wear PPE and follow ergonomic/OSHA compliance practices. 6. Physical & Work Environment Typical Requirements Ability to lift heavy components (often up to 50–100+ lbs with assistance). Stand, bend, and work on feet for extended periods. Work in industrial plant conditions (noise, temperature variations, moving parts). Willingness to support shift work and overtime as needed. 7. Soft Skills / Competencies Industry Expectations Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills. Effective communication with production, maintenance teams, and supervision. Ability to operate under production schedule pressure. Commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
