About The Position

Aeon is seeking a general maintenance professional to join the maintenance team at East Village, our 180-unit affordable and market rate apartment community in Minneapolis, MN. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the physical condition of the property and ensuring Aeon's standards are met across preventative maintenance, safety, property appearance, and overall building operations. This role supports the day-to-day upkeep of the community and helps ensure residents live in a safe, well-maintained environment. Responsibilities include completing maintenance work orders, performing preventative maintenance, assisting with apartment turnovers, and supporting general building upkeep such as trash removal and chute maintenance. This position reports to the Property Manager, with leadership from the Maintenance Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in general apartment or building maintenance.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, coworkers, and vendors while respecting diverse needs and backgrounds.

  • Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and current vehicle insurance required.
  • Must own basic maintenance tools.
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, bend and kneel for extended periods.
  • Ability to conduct property tours and inspections including but not limited to walking through hallways, stairwells, leasing offices, common areas, and vacant or occupied apartment homes. This may involve navigating multiple floors and uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to reach above and below shoulder height.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to grasp, twist and pull.
  • Ability to work in varying external weather conditions
  • Ability to quickly respond to sights and sounds that may pose a threat to persons or property.
  • Candidates must currently have - or be able to obtain within the first six months of employment - the following certification: Special Boiler's License

Responsibilities

  • Complete maintenance service requests by performing a wide variety of general maintenance and repair tasks, including: Plumbing repairs, Electrical repairs, Appliance repair and maintenance, Air handler and general HVAC maintenance, Lock changes and hardware replacement, Preventative maintenance, Apartment turnovers and preparation for new residents, Installation and repair of doors, cabinets, light fixtures, window coverings, and other building components.
  • Maintain the overall cleanliness and appearance of the property.
  • Manage regular trash removal and trash chute maintenance.
  • Remove debris from interior and exterior areas of the property.
  • Perform seasonal duties such as light snow removal and salting/sanding walkways.
