Maintenance Technician Trainee
About The Position
The Maintenance Technician Trainee is responsible for supporting the maintenance and upkeep of the property to ensure efficient operations and client/tenant satisfaction, including assisting with HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general property maintenance and repairs. This is a growth-oriented role designed to develop technical skills through hands-on experience, job shadowing, formal training, and practical application alongside the onsite engineering team. This role plays a key part in maintaining the reliability and performance of our buildings, creating safe, functional environments for tenants, clients, and patients.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Must be located in Libertyville, IL area
- Must be in office (onsite) 5 days a week
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, climb ladders/stairs, and perform extensive walking
- Basic computer skills and comfort using maintenance or work order software
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without need for employer sponsorship now or in the future
Nice To Haves
- technical or vocational training in maintenance-related fields preferred
- Customer service experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Assist in completing work orders related to physical maintenance and repairs of assigned buildings using work order software systems.
- Support routine physical improvements to the property.
- Respond to emergencies in accordance with departmental protocols.
- Assist the Supervisor in maintaining equipment, tools, supplies, stock inventories, and logs.
- Communicate building status and changes effectively to appropriate individuals.
- Adhere to all safety standards, policies and procedures, codes of conduct, and industry best practices.
- Act professionally and courteously at all times with tenants, hospital clients, co-workers, vendors, and patients.
- Use materials, supplies, tools, and building property safely and efficiently.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
