About The Position

Our Smyrna, NY sawmill is currently seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support safe, efficient, and reliable operations. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems within the sawmill. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous experience in electrical, welding, or mechanical work strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly identify and resolve issues.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team, including strong communication with operators and supervisors.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and working in varying environmental conditions.
  • Willing to train on 1st shift, but this will be a 2nd shift role

Nice To Haves

  • a 2-year degree/certificate in electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic fields preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components.
  • Apply knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles to diagnose equipment malfunctions and restore equipment to proper operation.
  • Provide skilled maintenance support across all manufacturing areas, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and repair a wide range of equipment, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), drives, gauges, power supplies, and test equipment.
  • Assist in the installation, modification, and upgrade of machinery and support systems.
  • Document maintenance activities and communicate effectively with operations staff to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Follow all company safety protocols and maintain a safe, organized work environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the needs of the sawmill.
