About The Position

Stonewall County Hospital District is seeking a dependable, motivated, and hardworking Maintenance Technician / Groundskeeper to join our Facilities Team. This position is responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality, appearance, and overall condition of district-owned facilities and grounds, including the hospital, rural health clinic, long-term care facility, and other properties. The ideal candidate will have experience in general maintenance and groundskeeping, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing excellent service in a healthcare environment. This role is essential to ensuring our patients, residents, visitors, and staff experience a safe, clean, and welcoming environment every day.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience in building maintenance, repair, facilities management, groundskeeping, or a related field preferred.
Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and general maintenance systems.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve a variety of facility-related issues.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
Ability to bend, kneel, climb ladders, and perform manual labor.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to safely operate maintenance and landscaping equipment.

Responsibilities

Perform routine preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and building systems.
Troubleshoot and repair facility issues, including leaks, faulty lighting, electrical outlets, doors, locks, and equipment.
Complete assigned maintenance work orders in a timely and efficient manner.
Assist with painting, carpentry, remodeling projects, and general building repairs.
Inspect facilities and equipment regularly to identify maintenance needs and potential safety concerns.
Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance areas in a clean and organized condition.
Document maintenance activities and repairs performed.
Maintain the appearance of hospital district grounds and outdoor facilities.
Operate lawn care equipment, including mowers, trimmers, edgers, and other groundskeeping tools.
Perform mowing, trimming, edging, planting, watering, and seasonal landscaping activities.
Remove debris and maintain sidewalks, parking lots, entrances, and outdoor spaces.
Assist with storm cleanup and other grounds maintenance needs as required.
Conduct routine safety inspections and address identified concerns.
Follow all facility safety procedures, infection control guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Ensure buildings and grounds remain safe and accessible for patients, residents, staff, and visitors.
Participate in emergency preparedness and response activities as assigned.
