About The Position

Stonewall County Hospital District is seeking a dependable, motivated, and hardworking Maintenance Technician / Groundskeeper to join our Facilities Team. This position is responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality, appearance, and overall condition of district-owned facilities and grounds, including the hospital, rural health clinic, long-term care facility, and other properties. The ideal candidate will have experience in general maintenance and groundskeeping, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing excellent service in a healthcare environment. This role is essential to ensuring our patients, residents, visitors, and staff experience a safe, clean, and welcoming environment every day.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience in building maintenance, repair, facilities management, groundskeeping, or a related field preferred.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and general maintenance systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve a variety of facility-related issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, climb ladders, and perform manual labor.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely operate maintenance and landscaping equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and building systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair facility issues, including leaks, faulty lighting, electrical outlets, doors, locks, and equipment.
  • Complete assigned maintenance work orders in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Assist with painting, carpentry, remodeling projects, and general building repairs.
  • Inspect facilities and equipment regularly to identify maintenance needs and potential safety concerns.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance areas in a clean and organized condition.
  • Document maintenance activities and repairs performed.
  • Maintain the appearance of hospital district grounds and outdoor facilities.
  • Operate lawn care equipment, including mowers, trimmers, edgers, and other groundskeeping tools.
  • Perform mowing, trimming, edging, planting, watering, and seasonal landscaping activities.
  • Remove debris and maintain sidewalks, parking lots, entrances, and outdoor spaces.
  • Assist with storm cleanup and other grounds maintenance needs as required.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and address identified concerns.
  • Follow all facility safety procedures, infection control guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure buildings and grounds remain safe and accessible for patients, residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness and response activities as assigned.
