About The Position

The Industrial Mechanic is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing industrial equipment in a manufacturing environment. This role ensures that machinery, electrical systems, and packaging equipment operate safely and efficiently by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and responding to repair requests with urgency. The technician also supports facility upkeep, participates in projects, and provides training to production staff when needed.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Skilled in mechanical systems, hydraulics, conveyors, and control systems.
  • Experience with electrical repairs including wiring, PLCs, and control panels.
  • Effective at conducting preventive maintenance and inspections.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis.
  • Skilled in CMMS systems for tracking work orders.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety practices, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
  • Clear, respectful communication and documentation skills.
  • Adaptable and able to prioritize urgent maintenance issues.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational/technical training, apprenticeship completion, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to read and apply schematics and line diagrams.
  • Previous experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical troubleshooting required.
  • Consideration given to mechanically/electrically inclined recent graduates.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure personal and equipment safety compliance at all times.
  • Perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on machinery and systems.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues with urgency to minimize downtime.
  • Install, update, and maintain production equipment, including packaging systems.
  • Train production employees on equipment setup, troubleshooting, and operation.
  • Participate in equipment rebuilds, upgrades, and facility improvement projects.
  • Troubleshoot and repair PLC systems (Allen Bradley).
  • Repair/rebuild pumps, motors, and gearboxes.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting using meters and schematics.
  • Install and repair circuits, conduit, and control systems.
  • Execute welding, fabrication, and vision system troubleshooting.
  • Maintain and repair packaging equipment (hot glue, cold glue, carton erectors, drop packers, wrappers).
  • Perform forklift repair and preventive maintenance.
  • Support facility maintenance including compressors, HVAC, pumps, and building repairs.
  • Manage assigned projects through completion, ensuring quality and safety standards.
