Maintenance Tech I - 2nd Shift
About The Position
Medline’s ReadyCare Waukegan team is seeking a Maintenance Technician to help keep manufacturing operations safe and efficient. The role performs preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on conveyors, automation, robotics, and other production equipment. The technician takes ownership of equipment performance, collaborates with teammates to resolve problems, supports continuous improvement, and works flexibly and accountably in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The position is on 2nd shift, Monday through Friday, from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. It also involves facility and building maintenance, equipment testing and assembly, production-delay analysis, accurate documentation, and following safety procedures. Travel of up to 10% and overtime as needed are required; preferred qualifications include availability for on-call requests.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three years of experience repairing and maintaining conveyor, automation, or robotics equipment.
- Fundamental understanding of machinery and equipment.
- Basic proficiency in multiple computer software packages, including Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with inputs, outputs, and PLC logic systems, and ability to troubleshoot these systems.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% for business, within and outside the state.
- Ability to frequently move, lift, and carry supplies or equipment up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to stand for at least 8 hours and up to 12 hours, for up to 6 days per week.
- Ability to continuously ascend and descend ladders and stairs; work at heights, on ladders, and lying down; and work with hands above the head.
- Willingness to operate material handling equipment such as a fork truck.
- Ability to write documents and reports using writing instruments and computers, and read information including small-print drawings.
- Willingness to learn new equipment as it is brought online.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
Nice To Haves
- Associate degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, HVAC, or equivalent.
- At least three years of experience in building maintenance at a facility larger than 75,000 square feet.
- Ability to bend, twist, reach, push, and lift for extended periods daily.
- Availability for on-call requests as needed.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on assigned conveyors, automation, robotics, and ancillary equipment.
- Troubleshoot out-of-service equipment, correct issues, support lower-level technicians, and escalate issues to leadership or more senior technicians as needed.
- Document work in computerized maintenance management and ticketing systems, and maintain accurate operating logs for routinely tested facility systems.
- Perform root cause analysis of major downtime events.
- Assist maintenance mechanics with work requiring two people or when operational needs demand.
- Perform assigned facility and building projects, including light bulb or ballast replacement, door repairs, furniture installation, ceiling tile replacement, carpentry, plumbing repairs, and operating-log maintenance.
- Assemble and test equipment to verify correct operation and production.
- Analyze and record causes of production delays, initiate procedures to resolve equipment malfunctions, examine defects and spoilage causes, and take and verify corrective action where possible.
- Follow applicable safety procedures, use personal protective equipment, and help eliminate potential equipment safety hazards.
