About The Position

Assist in equipment repair and preventative maintenance procedures in the operation of the facility where employed. This role involves repairing, replacing, and correcting equipment to ensure optimal operation according to production requirements. The position requires collaboration with Engineers and vendors, performing layout work for projects, and troubleshooting equipment. Adherence to all safety, environmental, food handling, and packaging regulations set forth by Simmons and government agencies is mandatory. The role also emphasizes teamwork, fostering cohesiveness, and supporting team objectives and policies. Familiarity with Simmons' operating systems (quality, security, LEAN) and understanding the impact of individual actions on these systems is expected. Requirements

  • Must have experience or vocational training in welding, electrical or mechanical repair, and refrigeration or hydraulics.
  • Communication skills & decision quality - Must have the ability to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and leadership team.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs, replaces, corrects or affects equipment as needed to ensure equipment operates correctly and efficiently according to production requirements.
  • Consults with Engineers and vendors as needed.
  • Accomplishes layout work for each project as needed.
  • Will be able to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Meets safety requirements in accomplishing responsibilities of this position complying with all policies or regulations set forth by Simmons or various government agencies concerning safety, environment, vehicle, handling of food products, packaging, ingredients and any related items.
  • Participates as a member of the Team.
  • Participates in the ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members.
  • Attends appropriate team meetings.
  • Fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
  • Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
  • Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
