About The Position

Works under close supervision with a Multi/Craft Sr Maintenance Tech to learn the fundamentals of all Maintenance function to include TPM, PM’s, various routine and emergency work orders and some calibration while marinating a clean work environment. The Maintenance Tech B function is, by definition, preliminary to advancement to Multi/Craft Sr. Maintenance Technician level. It emphasizes learning correct procedures by performing under supervision & finishing Program requirements to become a competent Multi/Craft Sr. Maintenance Technician. Nominal term 1-2 years. Advancement is contingent upon evaluation by and approval of Maintenance Facilitator, Human Resources Manager & Manufacturing Manager.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED plus Vocational or Technical School.
  • School training in the fundamental knowledge of Basic Electricity as well as PLC programming, Machine Shop, Hydraulic, Pneumatic, & etc.
  • Lift at least 25 pounds.
  • Certified lift truck license as defined by Plant Licensing procedures.
  • Welding.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to write legibly.
  • High degree of manual dexterity.
  • Pipefitting.
  • Electrical, including meeting National Electric Codes guidelines.
  • Machinist.
  • HVAC systems.
  • Millwright/machine repair.
  • Electronics.
  • Robotics, PLC. (Programmable Logic Controllers), Personal Computers, and other automated systems.
  • Hydraulics and Pneumatics.
  • Basic computer knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine functions including HVAC, Chilled water, and hot water systems monitoring.
  • Change lubricants in gear boxes, air compressors, presses, etc.
  • Complete fire protection checks and tests.
  • Perform compressed air system checks.
  • Service batteries and perform other functions on lift trucks.
  • Maintain on-hand lubricant/chemical levels.
  • Build and maintain a good selection of hand tools.
  • Know the correct use of hand tools and test equipment, including but not limited to Multi-meters, Oscilloscopes, and Gauges.
  • Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematics (electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, hydraulic, etc.).
  • Apply basic shop mathematics to a level adequate to perform nominal measurements and functions, including Calibrations.
  • Attend training functions, possibly including after-work study.
  • Assist Senior Maintenance Technicians in performing various repairs, replacements, and/or modifications of plant equipment and buildings.
  • Diagnostic testing on machines and system problems (PLC, Electrical, Hydraulic, Pneumatic etc.).
  • Work independently on equipment repairs for which the Maintenance Tech. B has been qualified.
  • Perform selected hands on work on training basis in specific departments and on specific equipment.
  • Report unusual conditions (excessive wear, pending failure, etc.) to Maintenance Facilitator or Senior Maintenance Technicians.
  • Work closely with Maintenance Facilitator to ensure assigned TPM Maintenance & Work Orders are performed with a sense of urgency and returned in a timely manner.
  • Suggest changes and updates on existing PM items.
  • Use computerized Preventive Maintenance system, wand in & out on Work-Orders & record Time spent.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including 5s, shop clean-up, as well as clean-up after Machine/Equipment repairs are completed.
  • Maintain a high attendance record.
  • Perform all assignments in a safe & timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
