Maintenance Supervisor
About The Position
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all safety, environmental, and quality policies and practices are understood and adhered to by all employees and contractors. This role involves providing day-to-day supervision of maintenance personnel, assigning work for preventive maintenance and equipment repair, and managing the ordering of necessary repair materials and spare parts. The supervisor will analyze equipment failures to prevent future problems, assist with plant infrastructure upgrades, and contribute to capital expenditure planning by providing input on equipment history and recommending upgrades. Additionally, the role requires reading and interpreting blueprints and technical specifications, establishing and enforcing high standards of housekeeping, and training department personnel. A key responsibility is performing root cause analysis to identify failures and implement corrective actions, ensuring that facilities, equipment, and control systems are maintained for safe, cost-effective, and quality production.
Requirements
- High School Graduate - minimum
- Training in all areas of electrical/mechanical testing and repairs
- 5 years of "front line" supervisory experience in a line manufacturing role
- Strong electrical experience in an industrial or steel related environment
- Experience with high voltage distribution systems
- Strong computer skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Communicate with all levels of employees
- Ability to multi-task
Nice To Haves
- AS or BS in Engineering preferred
- Experience with stainless steel and specialty alloys desireable
- PLC/Drives/Controls a plus
Responsibilities
- Ensure that all safety, environmental and quality policies and practices are understood and adhered to by all employees and contractors.
- Provide day-to-day supervision of maintenance personnel.
- Provide work assignments for preventive maintenance of equipment and/or repair of equipment.
- Place an order for necessary repair material and spare parts.
- Analyze equipment failure to prevent future problems.
- Assist with upgrades to plant infrastructure including but not limited to roadways, power distribution, city water distribution, natural gas distribution, plant air distribution, etc.
- Assist in capital expenditure planning by providing input regarding equipment failure history and recommending equipment upgrades.
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
- Establish and enforce first-class standards of housekeeping.
- Responsible for training of department personnel.
- Perform root cause analysis to determine failures and implement corrective actions.
- Ensuring facilities, equipment and control systems are maintained in a condition to safely and cost-effectively produce quality products.
