About The Position

NRG Ironwood Generating Station, a 800-megawatt combined-cycle gas and steam turbine generation facility located in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, has an opening for a full-time Maintenance Planner & Supervisor. This critical role reports to the Maintenance Manager and works closely with plant personnel, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to support safe, reliable, and efficient maintenance execution. The Maintenance Planner & Supervisor is responsible for developing work packages for regularly scheduled and outage work, coordinating and supervising maintenance planning activities, and helping ensure that preventive and corrective maintenance work is completed effectively. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, sound knowledge of maintenance and workflow processes, and proficiency with planning and technology tools.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand and follow procedures and instructions specific to the assigned area.
  • General knowledge of power plant operations.
  • Strong planning, scheduling, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across teams.
  • Ability to perform and manage varied tasks while promptly identifying and analyzing potentially complex compliance risks.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience as a power plant mechanic or equivalent maintenance-related experience.
  • Minimum 1–3 years maintenance planning or supervisory experience.
  • Strong understanding of Siemens combustion turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, generators, instrumentation, and water chemistry.
  • Siemens T3000 DCS
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or technical certification preferred.
  • ZLD experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises and assigns work to Maintenance personnel during day shift.
  • Provides field presence during high-risk evolutions.
  • Enforces plant procedures and safety rules.
  • Ensures accurate communication of plant status to Operations and Maintenance Managers.
  • Reviews and approves time-off requests and overtime assignments.
  • Holds personnel accountable for performance expectations and procedural compliance.
  • Review new work requests daily and establish priorities to guide work package development, scheduling, and completion.
  • Plan preventive and corrective maintenance activities for maintenance personnel performing repair and maintenance work.
  • Conduct regular planning meetings with the Plant Management team and other stakeholders to clarify work requirements and coordinate execution plans.
  • Develop complete work order packages, including drawings, equipment instructions, procedures, material lists, and tool and equipment requirements.
  • Plan and schedule major project outages and provide prioritized lists for shadow maintenance activities.
  • Use SAP to create detailed plans and schedules with appropriate activities and resource assignments.
  • Monitor project progress and provide timely updates on schedule status and completion progress.
  • Establish contingency work priorities for forced outage situations.
  • Recommend and facilitate procurement of parts and equipment needed to support maintenance activities and critical spare parts requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Operations team to determine required project conditions and appropriate work isolation, including preparation of lockout/tagout requirements.
  • Coordinate the predictive maintenance program.
  • Implement the preventive maintenance program, including maintaining equipment failure records and providing trend information to Plant Management.
  • Support and coordinate Root Cause Analysis activities.
  • Liaise with managers, vendors, and engineers to discuss project progress and address issues as they arise.
  • Produce work plans and assist in developing work scope documents for Requests for Information, Requests for Proposals, and other vendor bid support needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
